Did you know that Utah is a no fault state? “No Fault” means that every driver with auto insurance is required to carry insurance that covers your medical treatment even if you caused the accident. This insurance is commonly referred to as P.I.P. insurance or Personal Injury Protection Insurance.

“No Fault” law was passed into Utah legislation because too many accident victims were laying in the hospital helpless when the at fault drivers insurance wouldn’t accept liability. If you’ve been in an accident you know that getting an insurance company to accept liability can be a battle and damage done to the body needs immediately attention regardless of whose fault it was.

In order to prevent these kind of dire circumstances Utah Law requires everyone who has insurance to carry PIP insurance which starts at $3,000 minimum coverage. PIP coverage can range from increments of $3,000, $5,000, $10,000, all the way up to $100,000. And no need to worry about premiums because when the at fault drivers insurance accepts liability it will reimburse your auto insurance for the expenditures made keeping your premiums from going up.
